Rebranding from Human Turk to Human Commands

I wanted to take a moment to explain a minor change in our brand this week that I hope brings more clarity to our customers, investors, and early supporters.

Human AI, Inc. is less than six months old, and like all founders, we wrestled over names. Our conviction was clear—we were creating an AI agent so powerful it would feel indistinguishable from a human, and we wanted our name to reflect that mission.

Unfortunately, most good domain names are either taken or prohibitively expensive. I really admired Scale AI's early branding, and in the spirit of automating repetitive tasks, I wanted to merge the concepts of Mechanical Turk and Human AI. That's how the name Human Turk was born.

At the time, no one questioned it, and it made complete sense to me. However, we never fully considered how "Turk" would resonate with customers or what associations it might carry beyond the Mechanical Turk reference.

A few months in, I started to wonder: Why "Turk" at all? The name felt increasingly odd, and I wasn't confident customers would immediately grasp the connection. From a branding perspective, problems were already emerging—we couldn't secure any of the social handles we wanted except "HumanTurk," and even that wasn't always available. I brushed it off as something we'd figure out eventually.

After some reflection and brainstorming, we landed on "Human Commands"—and it feels so much better. The clarity and alignment with our tagline, "Prompt your personal computer using AI agents," is perfect.

We're more excited than ever about what we're building, and hopefully this small change makes it more clear who we are.

Prompt your personal computer using AI

“2025-2035 is the decade of agents” - Andrej Karpathy

Beyond the mouse:

In the age of AI, we should not be limited by the mouse—a 61-year-old invention. Expectations of AI agents and the convenient ability to walk away while they complete a task are becoming the norm and, with that, creating muscle memory that makes people less reliant on the mouse and more reliant on the keyboard as a primary interface method. We are transitioning from a keyboard-and-mouse interface to a keyboard-and-prompt interface.

By 2027, our vision is..

AI agents that autonomously navigate your entire computer—multitasking across windows, maintaining persistent memory of your workflows, and executing tasks with human-level precision.

This represents the most significant evolution of personal computing since the invention of the mouse—a fundamental shift from computers as tools we operate to computers as collaborators that operate themselves.
